After finishing school, Dr. DeFabio opened the doors to his dental office in Colts Neck and has maintained this practice location ever since. His professional interests are esthetics, adhesion dentistry, minimally invasive microscopic dentistry, advanced restorative dentistry, removable prosthodontics, and endodontics.
Dr. DeFabio was very active with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, serving on the Board of Directors from 1986-1994. He was a Founding Member and President of the New York Chapter of the AACD from 1988-1990. In 1987, Dr. DeFabio became the first accredited member from New Jersey of the AACD. He also served as National Program Chair for the organization in 1994.
Dr. DeFabio is a lifetime member of the American Dental Association, New Jersey Dental Association, and Monmouth-Ocean Dental Society. He has completed extensive continuing education with the prestigious Pankey Institute, as well as with world-renowned dental pioneers Drs. Turbyfill, Feigenbaum, Kois, Spear, and Kim.
When he is not practicing dentistry, Dr. DeFabio enjoys spending time with his family - especially his grandchildren, playing golf, sculling on the Navesink River, and being Fencing Director for the Sisters’ Academy in Asbury Park. He is an Equestrian Knight of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem and a Third Degree Knight of Columbus.
Dr. Erica DeFabio is excited to fulfill her dream of joining her father in practice after all her years of school and training. She attended the Rumson Country Day School and Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School before heading off to college. She graduated from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and was also inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, the Honor Society of Nursing.
Dr. DeFabio attended the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, where she earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. She was the recipient of the Dr. Frank Frates Outstanding Clinician Award, an honor given to the best clinician in the graduating class.
Upon graduation from dental school, Dr. DeFabio completed a one-year General Practice Residency at the Manhattan Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She continued at the Manhattan VAMC for an additional three years, completing a residency in the specialty of prosthodontics. She was appointed Chief Resident of the Dental Service in her final year.
With her unique nursing background and prosthodontic specialty training, Dr. DeFabio utilizes her gentle chairside manner to treat patients with complex restorative needs. She maintains professional memberships with the American College of Prosthodontists, American Dental Association, New Jersey Dental Association, and Monmouth-Ocean Dental Society.
Dr. DeFabio enjoys spending her time away from the office with her husband and two young children.
